Excellence Awards

The PHOENIX Excellence Awards is the company’s largest internal event, celebrating high-achieving employees across the business. Attended by senior leadership, key stakeholders, and sponsors, the event is hosted at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom and adopts a new theme each year to keep the experience fresh and engaging. The project involved creating a full event identity applied across print, digital, and staging.

Challenge

The brief was to create a new visual identity based on a disco-inspired theme while maintaining the premium, high-class tone expected of a flagship PHOENIX event. The design needed to appeal to a wide internal audience, satisfy multiple senior stakeholders, and work consistently across a large number of physical and digital touchpoints under tight deadlines.

Role

As Senior Graphic Designer, I owned the visual direction end to end. I developed the event identity, logo, colour system, and core visual language, and produced key assets across print and digital. I presented concepts to senior stakeholders and created a brand reference for suppliers, working closely with marketing, the events team, and external partners.

Approach

Disco elements were used selectively to avoid a dated or overly playful look. Subtle typography, lighting-inspired graphics, and controlled colour accents created an energetic but premium feel. The system was designed to work consistently across staging, print materials, and digital screens throughout the venue.

Outcome

The final identity delivered a cohesive, premium event experience for around 200 attendees, aligning with PHOENIX’s brand values and receiving strong feedback from senior stakeholders and sponsors. The system was structured for reuse, supporting consistency across future ceremonies.
